Car Hire Colombo Bandaranayake Airport

Colombo is famous as the cultural and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. In the past this city was one of the major harbors to ancient traders. This is also the first capital of Sri Lanka. Colombo Bandarnayake Airport (IATA: CMB) is located 35 km north of the Colombo city. This airport is officially known as Bandarnaike International Airport or Katunayake International Airport. The airport was built in 1944 as an airfield for the Royal Air Force, which was later developed into a civil airport in 1967.

The airport is currently the main hub for SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka. Most of the passengers arrive in this airport are tourists and businessmen from the neighboring countries. The communication facilities from the airport to other cities and the capital is also well developed. Car hire and public buses are available from the airport to the main city.

There are two international terminals and one domestic terminal. From the terminal direct bus, taxis and rent a car are available in Colombo.

A bus is available at every 15 minutes and more than 600 vehicles, including taxis are always available at airport parking.

The first and major destination from this airport is Colombo, the economic and cultural Capital of Sri Lanka. The city has a rich history. There are many canals in this city, including Beira Lake. This lake was used to defend the city against the attacks by the colonists. Now it is a cultural hotspot because most of the hosting regattas, festivals, theatre events, fair etc. are held on its shores. It takes only 30 minutes to reach Beira Lake from the airport and there are some world class restaurants and hotels on the shores too.
