Car Hire Prishtina Airport

Situated some 15 kilometers southwest of Kosovo, Prishtina Airport is the only airport for travelers in the Republic of Kosovo. Since it is an international hub, it serves over 1.6 million passengers on average each year. If you are travelling to Kosovo, for business purposes or for holiday, you are likely to use Prishtina Airport. The city has a couple of attractions and a necklace of things to do around Pristina, even after years of civil war. However, to have the best travel experience, it would be better if you rent-a-car.

Prishtina Airport hosts some car rental companies in their premises. You can hire a car of your choice, which you will use to drive around the city. All the same, do just hire the first company you encounter. You should do your own research on the firms based in the airport, before you even come to Kosovo. This way, you are able to compare services and prices, to secure a fair deal. Another thing, do not forget to be insured by your provider for the time you will be in the foreign country.

What to Do

  • Go sightseeing - The beauty with Pristina Kosovo is that most of its amazing features can be explored without paying a dime. All you need to do is to drive around. Some of the things you must see include the Newborn sculpture and the ancient Fatih Mosque, which is adjacent to the legendary Clock Tower. Make sure you drive to see Nena Tereza, which houses a statue of St. Mother Theresa. You will be doing yourself some injustice if you do not visit the Kosovo Museum. It is found in a pretty villa and when you enter inside you are treated to vast collection of ethnological and archaeological artifacts, not to mention the Goddess on the Throne.
  • Visit the parks - Just around the Prishtina Airport, there are a few green parks you must visit while in Kosovo. The Italian Park or old City Park was renovated a few years ago, and it features paved pathways, covered by tree canopies and well-maintained flower gardens. At the eastern side of the city, be sure to find Germia Park. It is a wonderful park, a good place to take your family and do not forget to take a swim in their outdoor swimming pool, which simulates a lake.
  • Tour Prizren - It is a historic city, located about 45 miles from Pristina downtown and almost the same distance from Prishtina Airport. If you rent-a-car, you can drive yourself to Prizren. However, it is important to liaise with your car rental company, to establish whether you are allowed to take the car out of town or not. While here, do not fail to see Prizren Hammam, a classic example of the architecture of the Ottoman, now used to host art exhibitions.

Shop around Mother Teresa square- While you are not likely to find designer stores around Prishtina Airport, Mother Teresa Square, hosts some specialty stores, where you can shop for different items.

As you can see, there is a lot to do in Kosovo, especially if you hire a car. Book it online if you want to avoid delays and you will get the key on arrival, and then collect your hired car.
